Cape Bridgewater

The beautiful and secluded Cape Bridgewater was once a volcanic island. It is a pleasant 20 minute drive from Portland via Otway Street. Cape Nelson State Park

Set on 210 hectares with craggy coast cliffs, this park is home to sea birds and unique soap mallee gum trees. A small tree that occurs nowhere else in Victoria yet is firly common along the coast in South Australia. Echidnas are plentiful within the park and along the tracks are the holes that they dig looking for ants and grubs. Mt Eccles National Park

Mount Eccles is a dormant volcano. Known as Budj Bim to the traditional owners, it is the source of the Tyrendarra lava flow which extends over 50km to the southwest. Mount Eccles National Park is Victoria’s first co-managed national park being managed by Gunditjmara Traditional Owners and Parks Victoria. The park’s tranquil crater lake and pleasant bushland surrounds make it a pleasant place for picnicking, camping and bushwalking.
